Haleck Companies and their History

Haleck Group of Companies

Founded in the late 1950s on the Island of Tutuila, American Samoa by Mr. Otto V Haleck Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Haleck with the opening of the Haleck West convenience store which progressed to a small grocery store in Pava’ia’i in the 1960s and later expanding to a retail-wholesale operation in the 1970s.

A bakery was also established in the early 1960’s as well as the processing and packaging for resale of Taro, breadfruit and banana chips from Mr. Haleck’s farm under the name of Polynesian Packers. At the same time, business interests diversified into real estate property with large land holdings in what is now known as Ottoville, leading to the establishment of Ottoville Development Company in the 1970s.

This growth in business continued with the establishment of Haleck Island Motors in 1985, Haleck West Dairy in 1986, Haleck Apia Motors in 1999, Ottoville Investments One Inc, with Tradewinds Hotel in 2003 and Haleck Investments Limited in Samoa in 2007.

Today, the Haleck Group features Haleck Enterprises Inc., Ottoville Investments One Inc., Haleck Apia Motors Limited and Haleck Investments Limited. It continues to remain a family-owned enterprise with oversight provided by a Board of Directors.
